Our Rooms

Snowflake Room

The Snowflake Room is for children aged from 3 months, to 2 years.

The children take part in activities such as sensory play, using taste-safe methods to allow the children to use all 5 of their senses. As well as spending time outside in the garden and taking walks in our 4 seater buggies.

Our routine is flexible to meet the needs of each individual child, with key workers adapting to meet individual routines as required.

Sunshine Room

The Sunshine Room is where the 2-3 year old children are based.

The children take part in a mixture of child-initiated play and adult-led activities to encourage their learning and development.

We encourage toilet training through books and role play with dolls, working alongside parents to support children to meet this important milestone in their development.

Rainbow Room

The Rainbow Room is for children aged 3-5 years, with some rising 3s joining subject to ratios and stages of development.

The Rainbow Room has 2 cohorts of children:   Rainbows - Children going to school in September. Raindrops - Children going to school the following September.

Group activities, such as circle time, are split into the two groups to provide age appropriate learning.

The Brightside Routine

Each room has their own routine, providing children with opportunities to play, learn and explore, inside of the classroom and outside in the garden, both individually and together with other age groups. Having opportunities for different age groups to mix together provides role models for learning and supports smooth transitions between the rooms.

Our Curriculum

Brightside Preschool's curriculum evolves over time as it is guided by the interests of the children. Children learn through play and are given the freedom to explore the resources throughout the environment, accessing both the inside and outside all year round.

Throughout the year we will introduce the children to a diverse range of topics, including different festivals, and provide them with adult-led experiences to enrich their learning. We welcome parents and carers into the setting to share their celebrations with us.

Children also learn to use Makaton signs, helping to encourage communication and language skills.

Partnership with Parents

Partnership between Preschool and Parents is vital for the development of each individual child. Parents know their child the best and we rely on parent input to know how to meet their needs.

Our online learning journals provide a daily incite into what each child has been doing. Parents see snap shots of their child's learning, which we will link to the 7 areas of learning.

Each week we give Parents ideas of activities which they can do at home, allowing them to be a part of their child's learning.
